On June 2, 2017, in Brussels, Belgium, Agfa Graphics Aisa experienced a historic moment under the joint witness of Chinese Premier Keqiang Li and Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel. Brothers Gaodeng Group CEO Zhiqiang Huang and Agfa-Gevaert Group CEO Stefaan Vanhooren signed a strategic agreement on industrial inkjet printing.
Brothers Gaodeng Group and Agfa-Gevaert Group established a joint venture company, Agfa Graphics Asia Co., Ltd., in 2010, which includes a green digital plate production base in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, using the latest technology. The business area covers Greater China and ASEAN.
In the past seven years, the joint venture has focused on traditional prepress fields, complementing each other’s strengths and achieving great success in the plate and film markets. In recent years, the development of inkjet technology has been rapid, and it has begun to emerge in many industrial production fields, with broad development prospects, such as digital printing on decorative panels and floors in the home decoration industry, digital printing on natural leather in the fashion industry, digital printing on fabrics in the textile industry, 3D printing, digital printing on food packaging, and digital printing on various glass products, etc.
Agfa-Gevaert Group has been laying out in the inkjet field since 2004 by building an inkjet technology R&D center and a series of mergers and acquisitions, establishing a leading position in the industrial inkjet field. Currently, more than 20% of the world’s UV inkjet printed products are printed with Agfa UV ink.
Brothers Gaodeng Group and Agfa-Gevaert Group both firmly believe that the future development focus and main market of industrial inkjet printing will be in China. Based on the mutual trust and successful operating experience of the joint venture over the past seven years, the two sides decided to sign a strategic cooperation agreement on industrial inkjet printing, expanding the current technology and business scale of the joint venture from the traditional pre-press field to the industrial inkjet printing technology field.
After the signing of the strategic agreement, the joint venture company will set up an industrial inkjet application research and development center and production base in China, taking advantage of China’s global factories to develop and produce industrial inkjet equipment for different applications and supply it to the world.
